Uncertain Donald Trump : Venezuela & Beyond

Some people think that they are not only super intelligent but they also have strength, licence and empowerment to bully and suppress other individuals and institutions. Even if there is in built device to check, balance and stop, they simply go hay wire. They play with fire by being in stress perpetually.

In order to make their country ‘great’ again, they change their strategy, tone and tenor from the word ‘GO’ without bothering for the adverse circumstances on the way or the end result.

Circulation Of Elite

“Trump has no right to unilaterally go for war even against corrupt and brutal dictator like Maduro, has no right to run Venezuela and his attack will not make U.S.A. and World safer.”

Due to such policy shift, health, employment and many key sectors are on a suffering spree in an era dominated by A.I.. In addition, by making visa very expensive & difficult and raising tariff rates, not only he is being frowned upon by most of the Heads of states, he has also made the task of U.S. companies dependent on immigrants, more difficult.

Instead of promising to solve Russia-Ukraine crisis, he openly insulted Zelensky and added more fat to the fire.O yes, he struck a long term deal with the latter for extracting precious minerals.

Greenland Controversy

Many times Trump has invited wrath of NATO in last one year. Latter is once again annoyed due to his unfounded announcements relating to takeover of a quiet country, such as, Greenland. Considerations are its vast mineral and other resources and crucial short sea route to China & Russia.

He had been brutally candid in divulging his intent to ‘take over’ Greenland in 40 days. But in no time Mario Rubio, Secretary of State has spelt out U.S. plan to ‘outright purchase’ the country from Denmark.

Mette Frederiksen, P.M. of Denmark has reacted by saying that any U.S. attempt to take over their colony would spell end of NATO. Stressing that USA must abide by rules of alliance, six major Heads of States including U.K. and France have supported her.

Countries Next in Firing Line

Next in line to be ‘taught lesson’ could be Columbia (largest producer of Cocaine) for its alleged Cocaine supplies to U.S.A. One may ask which country is not affected by menace of drugs ? Blaming one country, therefore, may not be fair. Incidentally, Gustavo Petro, the President has been invited by Trump to White House after being threatened with a military strike.

Cuba may be the next target of Trump for aiding and assisting Venezuela in providing security & strategy. Mexico may be hit also for letting China penetrate into vital Panama canal zone.

Iran, Russia & China

Iran may be next in line as its economy is in doldrums due to ongoing biggest violent unrest in most of provinces for two weeks and blocking of a huge sum of its money like China(60 Billions USD) in importing Crude oil from Venezuela.

Not only tankers containing crude oil of Russia from Venezuela are being seized by U.S., in a latest development, it has also asked Venezuela to cut off ties with Russia, China and Iran.

But point to be noted is that –

Trump at this stage would not commit the blunder to have a direct confrontation either with China or Russia.

However, his respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of any country is diminishing fast.

Lack Of Rationality

Probably he has picked up the unjustifiable if not absurd habit of acting, bereft of thinking. He has no regard either for Congress or his own Cabinet.Members of Congress too donot express their views openly or mince words after damage is done.

Street protests whether in U.S., Caracas or European capitals, are immaterial. These donot last long. What matters is what is put in black & white ahead of threadbare negotiation. Then only implementation may be fool proof.

Whither U.N.O. ?

In this regard, less said about institution of UNO or its Charter is better. It says –

“Adhere to U.N. Charter, respect International law. Further, action be limited to self defence or collective action authorized by UNSC”.

One is convinced that U.S. action in the wee hours of January 3 at Venezuela showed its military and strategic might which was in contravention of International law. It has violated the law as per Bill Clinton, the former U.S. President also.

It is being noticed that U.N.O. fails to take cognisance on key occasions and issues having wide human and non human ramifications : Covid pandemic, Ukrain attack, Palestine issue, Internal conflicts in many Middle East countries and South East Asia, to name a few.

Defence & Offence

He should not be under the wrong and misguided impression that India is a land of Snake Charmers. TO SUM UP

In the words of a U.S. Senator, Trump has shown his contempt for Constitution and rule of law. He does not have right to unilaterally go to war. As he is continuing with his expansionist designs and opening many fronts at a time, Congress, may pass a suitable resolution to check and end his war mongering.

Also it may be in fitness of things if his emergency powers are clipped, to relief of many.
