Ambani’s Three Mantras of Success

India is likely to be a $40 trillion economy by 2047 — a 13-fold jump from its current size — driven primarily by a clean energy revolution & digitalisation, according to leading industrialist Mukesh Ambani.

Ambani’s estimate for the Indian economy, currently the fifth largest in the world behind only the US, China, Japan and Germany, is more optimistic than Gautam Adani, who last fortnight stated that India will be a $30 trillion economy by 2050 on the back of rising consumption & socio-economic reforms.

“From a $3 trillion economy, India will grow to become $40 trillion by 2047, ranking among the top three economies of the world,” Ambani said at the 10th convocation of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDSU) last week.

As the ‘Amrit Kaal’ — the period between now & 2047 when India will be celebrating 100 years of independence — unfolds, the country will witness an unprecedented explosion in economic growth and opportunities, he said.

Ambani visualizes that “Three game-changing revolutions will govern India’s growth in the decades ahead. The clean energy revolution, the bio-energy revolution & the digital revolution”.

Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited has a finger in each of the pies as it invests billions in creating a clean energy value chain from solar panels to hydrogen.

His Jio disrupted the telecom sector, offering free voice calls & dirt-cheap data which played the role of a catalyst in the digital revolution.

“While the clean energy revolution & bio-energy revolution will produce energy sustainably, the digital revolution will enable us to consume energy efficiently. All three revolutions will together help India & the world save our beautiful planet from the climate crisis”, Ambani said.

He gave 3 mantras of success — think big, think green & think digital. “Be an audacious dreamer. Every great thing ever built in this world was once a dream thought to be impossible. You have to own your dream with courage, nurture it with conviction & realise it with bold and disciplined action. It is the only way you can make the impossible possible”.

He asked students to be sensitive to Mother Nature, inventing means to harvest its energy without harming it. ‘Think Green’ is about ensuring that “we leave behind a better and a healthier planet for the future generations”.

In the mission of making India a clean energy leader, digitisation will play the role of a force multiplier, he said, adding tech such as AI robotics & Internet of Things (IoT) are powerful enablers of change.

“These 3 mantras will be your astras (weapons) in your mission of making India a global clean energy leader” Ambani said.

For him, Covid-19 was a trial by fire that taught invaluable lessons, shaped better professionals & made people tougher from within. “With these learnings, no mountain will be too high to climb; no river will be too wide to cross. So roll up your sleeves & move ahead”, he said.

PDEU is the first & only private university in Gujarat with an A++ by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council. Ambani is President of the Board of Governors.
