Troubleshooting in dairy products
Teplu.in, a leading start-up in the animal husbandry space has launched an innovative online education course on dairy processing.
Teplu Learning Private Limited has announced the launch of the multilingual video based online and onsite practical courses on “Troubleshooting in Dairy Products”.
These courses are intended to benefit existing dairy entrepreneurs, professionals, dairy farmers, caterers and homemakers.
The online courses teach a step by step process to set up a profitable enterprise in dairy products. Over 12 dairy products such as paneer, curd, whey, khowa, rabri, basundi, yoghurt, ice-cream, kulfi etc have been included in the course.
The courses have been launched in three formats which are pre-recorded videos with live support, onsite practical classes and live streaming of practical classes.
Mr. Sanjay Bhattacharji, Founder and Director, Teplu says “ We have created these courses on dairy products for fostering entrepreneurship amongst young dairy farmers and homemakers. Many dairy farmers face the problem of getting a good price for milk. We want to provide them with the best technical guidance to manufacture dairy products and market them locally. As a dairy entrepreneur in the past, I was able to get a better price for my farm milk when I started producing a variety of dairy products. As per investindia.gov.in, commodity segments (Milk and SMP) offer EBIT margins of ~3 per cent in while value added segments such as ice cream, yogurt, cheese and whey show EBIT margins of ~20 per cent. Considering that by 2025, Indian milk production will grow to 270 MMT, this creates huge investment opportunities in the sector to the tune of $10 Billion. We are therefore encouraging housewives and working women to start their own small scale dairy units and take part in this growth story”.
Teplu launched its multilingual online courses on scientific dairy farming early in 2021 and has so far enrolled close to 6000 dairy farmers on its platform. Many new farms have been started under the guidance of experts and farmers have reaped the benefits of implementing scientific management practices in their dairy farms.
Dr. Rajendra Kokane, Phd, dairy technology and industry expert says “ We have created a course specifically focusing on the problem areas in dairy product manufacturing. Many entrepreneurs start this business and later on face problems in quality and end up in losses. We have provided solutions in our course which are not available in other digital media. This course will be useful to all the existing dairy professionals in India. Further, we have started classroom sessions in Mumbai, where live demonstrations are held. Homemakers will be able to start their own small enterprises and hugely benefit from these sessions.”
Dr. Rajendra Kokane, brings with him a rich experience of over 40 years. He has taught graduate, postgraduate and doctoral students for over 30 years as a faculty member in Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai. He has over 15 + years of rich industrial experience having guided some of the leading dairy product manufacturing companies in India and USA.
It may be noted that Teplu is a startup incubated by Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, which is India’s premier institute on veterinary and animal science. It is registered with the DIPP, Ministry of Commerce, Government Of India.
The company was considered as one of the top startups by IIT Bombay, during Eureka 2018.
Teplu creates curriculum based online courses in local languages for animal husbandry. Users access courses on smart phones or computers. Besides self-paced courses, the company also provides online interactive sessions to its learners to clarify their doubts and resolve problems they face in their farms.
The platform of Teplu uses intuitive technology to assess the progress of learners and takes tests and provides certification after completion.
